Why I Started Plants & Pillows (And What “Cozy” Really Means to Me)

When I first started thinking about this blog, I didn’t have a business plan, a content calendar, or a list of keywords.

I just knew one thing: I wanted my home to feel calm again.

Not perfect. Not magazine-ready. Just calm.

For a long time, my space felt noisy. Too many ideas, too many half-finished plans, too many things that looked good online but didn’t actually make me feel good living with them. I kept saving inspiration photos and scrolling through Pinterest, thinking that one more idea would fix everything.

It never did.

The moment I realized something was off

At some point, I noticed that I spent more time planning my home than actually enjoying it. I would rearrange a shelf, step back, feel okay for five minutes… and then start doubting it again.

Is this cozy enough?
Is this minimalist enough?
Does this look “right”?

That’s when I realized something important: cozy isn’t a style. It’s a feeling.

And no trend can give that to you if your space doesn’t support your everyday life.

What “cozy” means to me now

Today, cozy means waking up and not feeling overwhelmed by my surroundings.

It means:

  • surfaces that aren’t crowded

  • colors that feel soft, not demanding

  • plants that look alive, not decorative

  • furniture that invites you to sit, not just look

It also means allowing a home to evolve slowly. No rush. No pressure to finish everything at once.

I stopped chasing “perfect” rooms and started paying attention to how I actually use my space. Where I drop my bag. Where I like to drink my coffee. Which corner naturally becomes my favorite.

Those small observations changed everything.

Why I write about interiors and plants

Plants were the first thing that helped me slow down.

They don’t care about trends. They don’t look the same every day. Some days they grow, some days they struggle, and that’s completely normal.

Designing a home should be the same.

On this blog, I don’t want to tell you what you should like. I want to share ideas that help you listen to your own space a little better. To make choices that feel right long-term, not just for a photo.

This blog is not about perfection

You won’t find “rules” here that you must follow.

Minimalism doesn’t mean empty.
Boho doesn’t mean messy.
Cozy doesn’t mean dark or cluttered.

Your home doesn’t need to impress anyone. It only needs to support you.

If Plants & Pillows helps you feel a bit more confident in your own choices, or encourages you to slow down and enjoy your space as it is, then it’s doing exactly what it’s meant to do.

Thanks for being here and reading this.

That alone already makes this space feel more like home.
